Cost: $150 plus materials fee

Class Description: Designed for beginners, this workshop is an introduction to the process of turning yarn into fabric, from project planning, winding a warp, warping the loom, reading drafts, and finishing. The seemingly complex steps of warping a loom will be explained in detail, with tips and tricks to ensure success. We will be learning on vintage 4-shaft Structo looms, which are complete table looms, in miniature. By the end of the workshop, each student will have their own sampler of plain weave, rib, twills, basket weave, and “color and weave” to take home.For an optional fun share-and-learn experience, students are invited to bring an example of weaving from their cultural traditions. We will display these pieces in the classroom with pride for inspiration.Experience Level: All levelsMaterials to be provided by instructor:  $20 materials fee includes all equipment and materials: looms, wound warp, yarn for weft. Hooks for sleying the reed, shuttles, scissors. Print instructions.

Materials to be provided by students: Optional but helpful items to bring to class: headlamp or other portable work light. Small scissors, tapestry needle.
